Description:

A Country and Western biker bar, always packed and always crazy. Known for its energetic and sexy bartenders who encourage all females to dance up on the bar and contribute their bra to the collection hanging above the bar. A favorite for bachelorette parties, tourists, locals and motorcyclists. No cover charge, cheap drinks, and a great vibe. Interior featured in the 2000 movie, Coyote Ugly, a competitive downtown bar with a very similar vibe.

After becoming a haven for celebrities in the mid-90's (Brad Pitt, Gwenyth Paltrow, Daryl Hannah, Tony Curtis, Drew Barrymore, Harrison Ford), the bar skyrocketed to fame after a photo taken on September 7th, 1996, of Julia Roberts dancing on the bar and removing her bra, made its way onto the front cover of the New York Post, and then around the world.

The most famous famous celebrity visit was on October 23rd, 2003, by the legendary Beatle, Paul McCartney, who also proceeded to dance on the bar, and ultimately be photographed in a photo that would also make its way around the world.

The bar was started by Michelle Dell's husband, Allan Dell, in 1992, when the Meat Packing District was known for transvestite hookers and crack, not fancy restaurants and clubs. Dell slowly built the business, and in the process helped to turn around an entire neighborhood, turning Hogs and Heifers into a major tourist destination, and the Meat Packing District into one of the hottest club and restaurant destinations in the world.

Allan Dell died on June 7th, 1997, at age 31. Michelle Dell continues to operate the bar as its sole proprietor, as well as operating the much larger location, opened in 2005, in Las Vegas, NV.
